A nine-member South Korean delegation led by Lim Nam-Chul, senior researcher of Fishery Resources and Environment Division of Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, South Korea, paid a visit to Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) on June 2. IHB’s deputy director Prof. XIE Shouqi chaired the seminar where both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual interests.
At the seminar, Prof. Xie firstly extended warm welcome to the delegation. He said, "South Korea is a country with advantages in aquaculture, and has advanced technologies in aquaculture and fishery ecology. IHB has established a long-term academic relationship with some relevant universities and institutions in South Korea.” Senior researcher Lim Nam-Chul extended gratitude to IHB’s warm reception. He also invited IHB scholars to visit South Korea at their convenience. IHB Prof. ZHANG Xianfeng, senior officer of Research and Sponsored Programs Office, reviewed the historic development and academic achievements of the institute over the past 80 years. Prof. Xie introduced some major S&T programs in fishery ecology and aquaculture at the institute.
After the seminar, accompanied by Prof. Xie, the visiting delegation visited the Museum for Aquatic Organisms and Niushanhu Fish Farm which is situated in Jiangxia district, Wuhan.
