| CAS, INSERM and Wuhan University to set up a hepatopathy institute |

The signing ceremony for jointly establishing a Sino-French research institute of liver diseases among CAS, Wuhan University and the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM) was held on 11 March in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province. INSERM General Director Christian Brechot, CAS Vice President CHEN Zhu and Wuhan University President LIU Jingnan were present to witness the event.
To be located at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, the forthcoming institute will stick to the principle of "taking interdisciplinary studies as its guidance and clinical application as its objective," according to President Liu. In the near future, it will focus on research into hepatitis virus infection and immunology, diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases, and liver transplantation.
