On July 20th, NSFC president Prof. Yiyu CHEN came to visit our institute.

In the morning, NSFC president Prof. Yiyu CHEN attended the plaque unveiling ceremony for the establishment of the CAS key laboratory of Diversity of Aquatic Organism and Conservation with IHB Prof. Wenxuan CAO who is also academician of the CAS. At the following symposium, NSFC president made a presentation entitled “research on the diversity of aquatic organisms of inland waters”.

In the afternoon, NSFC president, accompanied by IHB’s leaders Prof. Zhengyu HU, Prof. Xudong Xu and Prof. Shouqi Xie, paid a visit to Liangzi Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Jiangxia district, Hubei province. Mr. Danping LIU, deputy district mayor and Mr. Shengsu XU, director of Liangzi Lake Tourism Zone introduced their managerial status to IHB and gave positive comments on IHB’s new experimental base to be set up in Laingzi Lake. They inspected the construction land and expressed their hope to promote the construction of the experimental base through communal efforts.
